The Chautauqua Advacement Project
The Gebbie Foundation has awarded the Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (WIB) a grant to continue the innovative internship program, the Chautauqua Advancement Project. The purpose of this program is to attract and retain a talented workforce in our area and seeks to recruit young professionals looking for employment in the Jamestown region. The goal of the program is that the internships will result in job offers to the particpating interns.
How the Program Works
Each CAP intern will work a typical work day Monday – Thursday at an assigned business or as needed by the host organization. On each Friday, the interns will participate in a joint-learning day that will involve a variety of activities. Staffed by the WIB, interns will receive customized job coaching on resumes, interviewing and networking. Fridays are also used to work on an identified community project as a team.
During the internship, the intern is an employee of the WIB, so wages and other employment costs are covered. The goal of the program is that the internship potentially turn into a job for the intern.
Hosting an Intern
If you are interested in hosting an intern for the Chautauqua Advancement Project, please contact Jody Cheney or Katie Geise at (716) 661-9324.
To be placed in the program, candidates will interview with both the WIB staff as well as the employer he or she may be placed with to ensure the inern is a good fit. We look forward to working with you to build your workforce!
