We are the one stop workforce services.

Chautauqua Works Opens in Temporary Location

Beginning Thursday, March 25 Chautauqua Works will be open for business at 407 Central Ave in Dunkirk. Due to the hard work of building owner, Rob Curry, DFT and the generous and quick response of the New York State Department of Labor, the One-Stop will be able to provide comprehensive employment services in Dunkirk a month following the fire.  The temporary offices at 407 Central will house One-Stop Staff including the Department of Labor, Chautauqua Works, Ross Innovative Solutions, BOCES Youth Navigator, JCC and Career Systems Development.  Partners including VESID, Ross, PathStone, STEL and WIB will be located at 419 Central Avenue beginning next week.     Hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30AM-4:30PM for the present time.  The location is smaller than our offices in the Masonic building and we ask customers to be flexible as we make this transition to our current location.  Workshops, orientations and more intensive services will be implemented over the next few weeks.

“The speed of being able to restore services within a month would not have been possible with the commitment and flexibility of all the staff at the One-Stop,” stated Dr. Sue McNamara, WIB Director.  She added, “The State Department of Labor provided furniture, supplies and equipment and local staff have pulled together everything else that brings the One-Stop alive.”  A special thank you goes to the logistical support of Wade Levan and his DFT team, Synergy, Verizon, State Property and OFT staff, Cathy Switzer, City of Dunkirk, RE Signs and Jody Cheney, WIB IT/Facilities Director.

As we move out of the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator, we remain appreciative of President Hefner who opened the incubator to serve the community.  That contribution enabled us to assist many customers find employment at Cliffstar, Carriage House and Berry Plastics.  The WIB is continuing to work with a local developer to establish a permanent site with enough space for the One-Stop and partners to provide services which facilitate the building of a competitive workforce in Chautauqua.  Customers seeking additional information on our services can access our website - www.chautauquaworks.com  or call 716-366-9015.
